Me, always thought there is no free lunch.
So, whenever any brands or marketing guy approaches me on any malls claiming to gift some free stay etc, my first response would be – Not interested.
Move to /dev/null
Why malls, even on emails. Any emails that say to claim something free will find its right place – Move to the bin.
When I joined IndiBlogger.com and saw the contests held for bloggers in there I had the same opinion. I mean, the contest is just an excuse. All the contest will make it compulsory to share the posts with their designated hashtags. Which means, 100s of people writing the article for the brand share it on their social media. Retweets, Likes, etc and the brand get its share of trends on Twitter or other social media.
We all think that these brands utilize our social media presence for their brands and in the end may select few bloggers known close to them etc. Typical “you know what” mind.
Me too had the similar opinion in the beginning. To add fuel to this, there was this lady who in on one of the forum post said these contest are all eye-wash etc. Maybe she had her own share of experience before putting out this post. I do not want to get in there.
But still wanted to participate in the contest held by IndiBlogger. If not for winning, at least I would get a nice topic to write about. Yes, our blogger minds always keep looking for an opportunity to write about something. And when someone provides you with the topic on what to write, makes life easy. Right?
Add to that, the other contestants will click on our post link to read our blog. Doesn’t it help in our blog readership and viewers? Why leave that!
The very first contest I participated in was the #CuttingPaani challenge. The topic was very interesting and of course, the need of the hour. I wrote a post for it – saying I vented out is the right word.
You can find that post in “Paani pe charcha” [There you go, click it. Help me get an additional view. Lol.]
You see, at that time I had only my Tamil blog and just to participate in the contest, I wrote an English post in it.
And then there was one from contest Lufthansa, which was talking about a subject that is very close to my heart – Travel.
Result? I had this post to #sayyestotheworld.
And then there was 2 more contest that I participated.
One fine day I see my name in the winner’s list for the “Paani pe charcha“. I was on cloud nine. The highlight was when I actually received the Amazon shopping vouchers as the prize.
And today, I had got 3 such vouchers from other contests I participated as well.
Having tasted the success, am I going to keep quiet? Well, no. Will make sure I participate more in upcoming contests.
So, why do I talk about it now?
Well, its to tell the whole blogger world out there about the existence of IndiBlogger.com.
It’s real. It’s happening. Grab the opportunity. Do not miss the golden opportunity. [Damn, I sound like a marketing guy myself now!!!]
Come join the contest
OK, friends. I know there are many such sites that encourage we bloggers to actively participate and contribute.
And I am sure you know plenty of them. If you do, why don’t you post it in the comment so as to help other bloggers visiting here?
Thanks for sharing.
