August 15th, Independence Day, Day of Sweet Freedom and Sour Duty.
Freedom. I have Freedom. You have Freedom.
We all have Freedom. And lots of it. Our constitution has given us the Freedom, not just Freedom of speech, but also the Freedom to Protest. No other democratic country in the world gives so much Freedom as ours. And remember, our country is the worlds largest democracy!
How many of us take this opportunity today to think about the Great souls that fought for gifting us this Freedom?
Most people who fought to see the light did not enjoy Freedom. Most people who really enjoy the Freedom never had oppurtunity to fight for Freedom.
Many of the younger generations consider this as another Public holiday. Schools are closed, but forced to make it compulsory for the kids to attend the Independence Day celebration at schools.
Even if the younger generation wanted to think of great souls, the Media never allows them to. Look at the programs in the Televisions. Don’t you think its full of Cinemas and its Celebrities?
What special role these reel heroes played or even play today in India’s contribution? Let them first pay their taxes genuinely to contribute to our India. When are we going to start recognizing and appreciating the Real Heros of India, The Soldiers?
A country which does not recognize its own Soldiers can never be a success. It is not just for the Governments to recognize the Soldiers and keep recognizing them with the awards. Every individual should have the DNA to recognize the real Heros of India.
I am asking not you to give any monetory recognitions to soldiers. I am only asking you to put in your effort in every other way you can in the daily life to make the soldier’s life easy.
Soldiers struggle at those isolated areas, with unreachable roads, unexplainable sufferings when on duty. They are at minus degree tempertures struggling to even breadth. And all this suffering is for us to enjoy the Freedom and be safe and sound here.
We cannot help them in their duty, or in the war. But at least when they are back home on vacations or other reasons, respect them.
Every citizen of India should make it a point to give first preference to the Soldiers of this country. Be it in a train station, booking office, or boarding a flight, or even while in queues to make any bank transactions.
Even when in a bus, why can’t we have the heart to give a seat for those ever struggling legs that made sure of the dignity of our Country? This simple gesture is also honoring the Soliders.
When we are forced to give way & wait for hours for the politicians and his numerous conveys, why cannot we provide such privilege for our Soldiers? Politicians are supposed to be public servants, but in reality you all know how they behave.
Soldiers are the real heros who are supposed to be given those priveledges like the politicians.
Sadly, we are still with misplaced priorities.
Every parents should bring up their kids not just as an academic greek but also as a responsible citizen. There are days back then when every Indian Mother fed their kids with patriotism. There were days when parents do not want a kid who cannot stand for their land and country.
But what is the condition today? Keep a hand in your heart, and answer these questions.
How many of us sing the Vande Matram or the Jana Gana Mana without any mistakes?
You may ask, just by siniging this patriotic songs do not mean one is patriotic. But think about it, if you cannot even sing the Indian patriotic songs how patriotic you could be?
Do you think, these patriotic songs are written only to be sung during the fight for freedom? If so, you are wrong.
If you think just by clipping the tricolor on your shirt on an Independence Day and singing in the crowd means you have contributed for the country?
The country which has offered you enormous Freedom has also set some duties for its Citizens.
Unfortunately, for us its Sweet Freedom and Sour Duty. Yes, we enjoy the Freedom, but forget to do the duty.
A Clean Country is Green country. Do your duty to keep your surroundings clean. I am not asking you to remove the garbage you see to make the country clean, but at the least can you not avoid littering around you?
I am not asking you to be a hero in saving others life, but can’t you avoid being a danger to one’s life? Do no harm.
If every individual thinks in such a direction, then My country would be a great one.
Days are not far, we are already there. Its just matter of time when the world salutes my Country!
