13th September 2019.
My sleep is disturbed, I wake up. Look at the clock, its just 4:13 am.
I had set the alarm for 4:30 am. Should I go back to sleep?
Giving the thought a pass, switch off the alarm and get ready to catch my early morning flight.
For me, the day started very casually. Got ready myself, a quick
I check my watch, and it smiled 5:13 am.
Little I knew that I am going to experience the positive power of attraction.
Behind the wheel was this very friendly driver, but both a superfast & super cautious driver. Since it was a busy time for the airport, there was too many traffic in the drop-off area. He found the first free spot near the gate and drops me at the airport well on time.
Ok, here I am at the airport ready to board the flight to Vienna. I paid for the taxi and collect the receipt. By the time I place the change and the receipt in my wallet, the taxi driver was ready with my baggage wearing a nice smile. Thanking him, I started to walk towards the gate.
I raise my head and check the gate number – It is entry gate number – 13.
I ask to myself? Is number 13 really a bad number?
Ah, it is just perception. There is nothing wrong with any numbers. I Convince myself and trying to check my boarding pass, which I stored the previous day in my wallet of iPhone.
OMG. My hands search for the phone. Shirt pockets, pant, I search all pockets, my overcoat and all, except for the people around me!!!
Suddenly the number 13 passes my eyes. I answer myself – Yes it is. Hey number 13, you are indeed a bad number.
I just realized that in the name of saving the environment, I had no physical ticket or the print out of my boarding pass. All my flight tickets including my boarding pass, hotel bookings, everything was on the phone.
I look at my watch. Had less than 30 minutes for the boarding.
With no clue of what to do, I roam like a desperate man. I felt like shouting for the
I look around. No public phones to be seen nearby. Thought of calling my wife but, what’s her number?? I close my eyes and think, the only number that crosses my mind was 13.
Blaming those mobiles addiction, I entered into the Airport to make a formal complaint. The moment I enter, I see an airport staff exiting the airport for want of
I stopped to talk to him. Why? I don’t know, no time to think.
I narrated my adventurous story in the olden tic-tic telegram style – my phone, lost in the taxi, just a few mins back, boarding pass, flight all gone, etc etc
He cools me down and asks if I remember the taxi number. Luckily I realize that I have the receipts from the taxi. I pick it and hand over to him.
He picks his mobile, started calling the general number for that taxi and the rings goes on.
I was thanking myself for the receipt, it also had the taxi number. A smile in my face. Light
I also gave the taxi number, but only to know it was not right. Next, I tell him the time & address from where I booked the taxi for pickup.
Bingo, they find the taxi and call him.
I was asked to wait at the same place where I was dropped – gate number 13.
The taxi driver just left, so should not be far from the airport. Moreover, there are still huge to the traffic in the airport area and so there are fair chances that he is not far from
I started to wait. When you wait for expecting something, even a 5 minutes is like 5 hours.
After around 10-15 minutes I see the ray of hope. My taxi arrived, the driver handed over the phone with the same smile!
Good souls do exists. I thank him and he leaves without waiting for my thanks.
I check my mobile… it’s 6:13 am. I smile, and raise my head.
The gate number 13 smiles back at me.
Am I a bad number? I felt like it was asking me.
I am sure you know what would have been my response, right?
