Life – Live your life, Today
When do you Live your Life?
As we saw in our previous post on Education, starting from the young age as a kid, we struggle to study and excel. Forget enjoying, as a kid we never spent time even in living the life. We all thought that once schooling is done, we will live our life.
But it was only later we realized that it’s just a disappointment. The struggle then moved to the graduation, bachelors, and master. We convinced ourselves that it’s only for a few more years and once we are into work, no one can stop us from living our life.
Little we knew that this was also going to turn into disappointment.
That’s not the end. Even after all these experience, we still dream same when we get into work – We are finally going to live our life.
And how many really do?
As an employee, we struggle, work hard, and earn money. All these struggles for what?
To save whatever we can save in the bank? We save with yet another convincing theory that these are our savings and once we save sufficient wealth, we will live our life. And the day we plan to live is called Tomorrow.
For the tomorrow that never comes?
Moreover, we also saw in this post “What will make you rich?” on how, all these savings are not for us, but for others. Please free to read the other post to understand why these are not for us.
We all know that we came to this world with nothing and will also leave this universe with nothing.
So, have you ever thought why do we struggle so much to learn, graduate, work, earn and excel?
Is it all to save money for leading a good life after your retirement?
Think again, when you retire you would be at the fag end of your life. Don’t you think you would feel guilty that you have wasted the whole life without living it?
So, what is LIFE?
I would define the Life as Living In Family Environment.
Yes, there is no life without a family. All the struggle we undertake is to establish a good family, to get a good education to the kids, get some nice shelter for the family, keep them happy etc.
But, while you do all these for the family, what do YOU do for the family?
I mean not you as a commodity, but as a person, as a husband, as a wife, as a son or daughter, etc. do to your family. Providing hard earned money to the family is not the same as providing your care and love to the family.
Confused? Read on.
How much time do you spend with your family?
“Oh, other than working in the office on working days, I stay at home. So, I am with family most time.” Sounds familiar?
If this is what your response is too, then definitely this post is for you!
What is your official work hours? Mostly 8 hours.
So, does it mean the rest of the hours, i.e 16 hours you are enjoying your life with your family and loved ones?
Really?
Think again.
Out of 24 hours, around 7-8 hours go to sleep. In the balance 16 hours, 10-12 hours go to work, sometimes even more due to the commuting.
That leaves you with a max of 4-6 hours to be spent with family in a day. Take a couple of hours from this for eating and other personal time.
What are you left with? One or two hours. And are we really spending these few hours with family?
No, we watch TV, spend time on gadgets, the internet, cell phones etc.
“Am I not having dinner with the family together?”
Oh, really? You may be physically present, but mentally again it’s with the phone. How many families we have heard about this incident?
When you could not find time for the family, where are you going to get time for yourselves?
Almost NIL. So please forget the money you save and rethink the time you spent with your family. A family is the one that can keep you hale and healthy and most of all happy!
We all know that people who put in hard physical work are paid much less than the one who manages them and do relatively less Physical work. Right? Why?
Because its more stress, and stress is the most dangerous factor in life.
Managing others is not an easy task as it may look. In fact, it is easier to do the things than making someone do it for you.
People who do physical work are relatively in the safer zone when it comes to maintaining one’s health. But it’s those people who sit in a place and work in front of a computer, earns wealth and nothing in terms of health – unless you are smart enough to manage it wisely.
Those who work in an office on their cubicle, do this small experiment.
How many hours are you sitting in one place in a day? Yes, without getting up and going somewhere. Continuously working on something or other in your seat.
Any guesses?
I found out that I have been sitting sometimes like 3 hours without moving from my place. Yes, you heard me right.
It was only when I started using my Fitbit and started to monitor my moments, I realized that I have been sitting in a place and working for even 3 hours continuously – without any break. I never realized this at all. But when the Fitbit stats said so, it was a big surprise for me.
I am sure most of us are in the same boat. We seldom spent the time to take care of ourselves and live with our loved ones.
If you keep thinking or dreaming of a vacation for tomorrow it is not going to happen. And in that case, you neither live today nor going to live tomorrow.
It’s true. Unless you step out, it will never come for you.
How many news have we heard about like stress?
One of my school friend had to undergo head surgery. No, no accident or any physical issue. It was just due to the extreme stress he was into at the young age of 40. I know, this is not good news, but then that’s reality.
So, think again. How are you going to beat the stress? You can never avoid stress, in this materialistic world. So, what is the solution?
Stress management is the only solution. Take it easy, and believe that you are in such a state for a reason.
Every success is luck until you find the root cause – which predominantly will be your own hard work.
Same way every, the problem you face is difficult, until you find the reason behind it. Yes, it’s the test for us to pass. And believe in it, and give your best. Rest is not with us.
For HE knows what you deserve & what to be given. And our ancestors called this Karma.
Keep saving good karma!
Do not worry, manage stress well.
Happy living.
