It was just yesterday, I was sitting in my balcony, enjoying the mild snow in the New Year’s eve and looking back at 2017. And today, it is going to repeat.
Yes, one FULL Year has passed with the blink of an eye. Or that is how it looks like now.
My last year post on 2017 was on the WordPress free portal.
For those who are interested, I have moved that old post to this domain in here.
After officially wearing the badge of an Author in 2017, I decided that it was time for me to move to my own domain and build my brand.
A New Beginning
That is how I got my own domain mjothi.com registered in January 2018. What a start, right? But, I took up sometime to decide on setting up my website and blog. Finally, it was end of February when I posted my first blog post “Why did I start Writing” on my own domain.
And managed to write 2 more for the month of February.
Wow, what an experience!
As a new kid in the town, was trying to get myself exposed to the Bloggers community. Thanks to @indiBlogger, I was able to get exactly what I was looking for. In March 2018, I came across some contest on IndiBlogger.in and participated too.
Believe me, from then I won in 3 contest I participated. It’s not a big money, but more than enough to keep running my website for next 2 years. Is that not cool? Moreover, I am sure you all will agree that this is just a bonus for we bloggers. For we are here to get the satisfaction and those bit of happiness by writing rather than minting money. At least, I am with such opinion.
With such exposure to blogging community, I learnt how much importance does the Social Media plays in Bloggers & their blogs growth. I started to be more active on Twitter and that helped me to get to know about A2ZChallenge.
So, April was a very busy month. Yes, one post per day for the whole month, was little more for me. But then as you all know me, I am that Guy who like being pushed to the extreme. I took the plunge and successfully completed it too.
April is one of the best month in my blogging. Why? Because, it yielded me such a viewership that I can never forget in my life.
Growth due to A2ZChallenge
You can read my Reflections to know more on how I made it from 3K views to 20K views by just participating in this A2ZChallenge.
Just completed this challenge and waiting to know what’s next, I came across the BlogChatter community. A wonderful community that works with a sole goal of helping the Bloggers. They had this eBook carnival. Even though I have published 4 eBooks in 2017, I had no plan for one in 2018. Looking at this carnival, decided to write the eBook on one of the travel I made in Italy. It was named “Puglia – Hidden Treasures of Italy”.
The month of August went busy with my summer vacation, with few contributions to the blog. That’s the secret I found to keep my family happy and not to bother me when writing! You see, that’s the balance in a
All those travels helped me to come up with a new travel blog. Hey, go ahead, click on the link and shower some love, you will not be disappointed.
Come September, I participated in the MyFriendAlexa. I should confess here, that I had no clue of what an Alexa is and why it should be my friend. This is the main reason I keep recommending any budding blogger to make sure to follow the Bloggers community.
It is more about consistency and help from fellow bloggers that could make this a success. Thanks to a group of Bloggers, I made a big advancement in Alexa ranking.
- From 4.73M on 1st September, to 1.23M on 30th September.
- From 1.2M on 1st September, to 48K on 30th September.
And look at the bounce rate, it improved considerably showing that people do read my full post! Thanks to those millions!
Thanks to this Alexa, I got many blogger friends. The post will not be complete without a shoutout for some of them who have helped me a lot in this successful journey. [I apologise if I missed any of you friends!]

Due to the travel pressure I was not in a position to contribute more to the blog in last 3 months of this year. But thanks to the Blogadda, who comes up with nice prompts every weekend. The prompts are addictive that I will not miss to participate, and its a 100% hit rate too!
