“M” in #AtoZChallenge
Our next destination in this challenge is Monte Carlo, the land of Street Race.
Not the regular street race, but these are the official F1 races on streets. Interesting?
You may be wondering why being in Milan I still write about Monte Carlo for M? Well two reasons.
One, I simply loved this place.
Two, inspired from this place, I based the lead character of my upcoming novel “Codice Bianco” in here. What’s a better way than revealing the character to my readers in a challenge like this?
Here is a short glimpse of my Salvatore Meloni, exclusively for you.
A Bentley Mulsanne glides through the Grande Corniche’s windy roads. Salvatore was on his way back to the port in Monaco, to welcome his new love. He canceled all his programs and took the next flight to reach Nice, and now on his way to put his hands on his new love.
Salvatore Meloni. A famous businessman in Italy, basically from Sardegna, an island south of the Genova. He owns almost every business you could imagine of – From stationaries to Electronics to Fashion brands to Defense.
The two 10.2” entertainment tablets housed in the front seatbacks of the Mulsanne was displaying the smiling face of his office staff from the port. He was happily passing the message about the arrival of the new Monte Carlo Yacht M105 being added to his boss fleet of yachts.
Even though Salvatore had many yachts, he was having an eye on this new M105 from Monte Carlo, ever since he saw it first launched in the recent Venice show.
Salvatore looked at his right wrist. The humble Armani smiles saying it’s closer to noon.
Ok, having revealed my character intro, let me now get back to Monte Carlo.
Monte Carlo is in Monaco on the French Rivera. Do you know that there is no Income Tax for the residents in here? YES.
This policy of no income tax has attracted many billionaires to seek residency here. This is another reason for you to find all sort of luxury cars over here.
Monte Carlo, Principality of Monaco.
Nice Airport is the nearest Airport to reach here. And there are 3 different roads for people with different level of an adrenaline rush. All the three path offers a splendid view of the coast from the Cliff.
Especially, the Grande Corniche offers the best views with many twists and turns. Do you remember the James Bond’s GoldenEye movie where the dialogue goes like this
She: I think you are just trying to show off your… size of your…
She: No your Ego.
It was exactly shot in this Grande Corniche.
There is no official immigration check when entering Monaco and hence no stamping on your passport. But if you have the hobby of collecting the official passport stamping from various countries, make sure you visit the Tourist office. They will be more than happy to stamp the seal of Monaco.
A memorable souvenir.
I do not want to arrest your thoughts, so feel free to roam around. Anyway you turn, you will hit on those luxury shops all around. Shopping is must, either window or real – the sky is the limit – keep shopping, who cares!
Once done, head straight in the direction of the casino. Just in case you did not spend money in shopping, feel free to do in here.
Casino Royale – Monte Carlo
Or even better, why dont you earn some money from Casio and spend next in shopping? Ready? I love the spirit. Get to the Bingo!
From Casino keep walking and you will reach the world’s famous hairpin turn of F1, the Fairmont Hairpin turn.
Even if done, this challenging hairpin turn will test the F1 drivers skills to the core.
We continued the nice walk further towards Grimaldi Forum and reached the Japanese Garden. In front of the Garden and Grimaldi, you have almost every luxury car showroom. And every showroom had a sign stopping you from taking pictures.
Lamborghini, McLaren, Maybach, Rolls Royce, Mercedes, Ferrari and every other brand. Few pictures from the showroom that did not had the signs “Do NOT shoot.”
The Jardin Japonais
This is an authentic Japanese garden and a must-see. The Jardin Japonais is a lush Zen garden complete with water, stones, and vegetation. It’s just over 7,000 square meters and inside you’ll discover a beach, a pristine stream, and even a rushing waterfall. Nice place to have your meditation!
If you try to walk towards the Station from here you will encounter beautiful streets with staircases.
The government, even though collects no income tax, have provided many amenities to its citizens. This is one of the best disable friendly country I could say. Since the city is on a cliff, there are no level ground and streets. So the city has provided many lifts & escalators. And do not be surprised if you took an escalator and reached 3 levels up, and still see the bug plying around there.
Do not miss the beautiful view of the sea from the mountain. If possible take a train ride from Monaco to Nice, an enjoy thse scenic views!
