My sound sleep is a bit disturbed by sounds. The lazy feeling was preventing me from getting up from the bed. The chirping sounds of birds through the window was a nice rhythm that energized me and encouraged to open my eyes.
The sun rays were peeping into my room without my permission, through small gaps in the wooden windows. A golden hand opens the window to let the morning golden sun rays fill my room with light. I get up and stretch my hands to view the beautiful waterfalls falling from above through the green mountain. The sound of the water gushing down can be heard clearly from my bed. I walk to the window, covering my eyes to avoid the direct sunlight. I stand against the window, watching those amazing scenery with mountain and trees. The birds are already ready to fly out in search of a job – I mean the food for its dear ones.
The aroma of the hot coffee triggers my sense, and I turn back to the coffee on the table.
We all would love to have such a wonderful morning, every day. Right?
But the reality is always different. It was never such a slow and enjoyable moment.
I am trying to think the good old days when I was a kid, and how every phase in life the morning waking was so different. Of course, the morning during the holidays are completely different, and we had no need for anyone to wake you up. You bet.
During my school days!
My mother knows well, what I love. Of course, every mother knows what their kid love and hate, isn’t it?
Every morning my sleep will be disturbed by the strong aroma of the coffee, the first thing I love in the morning. Yes, I have several loves in the day, coffee being the first in the line!
Bed-coffee is something I could not overcome for long. Hence, without any cribbing, I wake up, get my coffee and then routine starts as usual.
Years fly. I move to college.
But the morning blues never moved from me. But things were very different now. I figured out that my dad has the best technique to wake us up in the morning. With no sound, no noise or no shouting.
All he does is to silently switch off the fan in the room. In a place like Chennai, you can imagine how it would be without a fan. Even if I want to irritate him by over-sleeping, I cannot. Yes, he always wins. No matter what we try, we cannot sleep after that!
Then the regular coffee, followed by the newspaper session. Loved those “Know your English” on those The Hindu!
Years fly and the new gadgets pre-dating the Smartphone or Tablets came into existence, it was a different experience.
No, the morning blues did not go. But my body got tuned and listened perfectly to my command. I do not remember when did the alarm wake me up. It was always me who get up before the alarm can go off and put it to off.
Some say it is a boon. But I say its a curse. Yes, especially when you see others sleeping and you are not able to!
First thing is, no not my bed coffee this time. Not because I do not like, but the love for my computer overweighed this desire of having coffee. I wake up, get to the computer in the next room.
The newspaper session was replaced with the browsing of the internet. Interested to browse more on silicon valley news and its weather forecast more than the local news. You got me right, I started working for the so-called IT company headquartered at silicon valley.
I was thinking this was my worst period since most morning went in front of the computer for one reason or other.
Then comes the world ugliest evil, but in a beautiful disguise.
Tablets and Smartphones!
These gadgets made me learn that my morning was far better during the computer days. Because, I will at least get up from my bed, walk to the next room to browse or surf.
But, these gadgets glued me to my bed in the morning. I had options to wake up to the chirping sounds of birds, but this time it was all the artificial sounds from the Smart Phones. Nothing natural in it. How could it be? We cleared all the nature in our urge to construct the villas. All those trees which use to smile and smell green are looking at us in different colors standing in different forms inside our home – be it the table, or my own bed etc.
Good morning. Is this really one? For whom? The ones which lost themselves to satisfy our greed to earn and live more?
Maybe that is why we greet others today with just a morning? In the rush to catch up in this competitive world, even the morning is no more good.
Let us understand that we only lost good in the good morning, and we do not want our kids to lose even those mornings.
Join together, conserve nature. Love it with the same love as it does you.
