“U” in #AtoZChallenge
Our next destination in this challenge is Uriage, the land of thermal spa, in France.
Few weeks back, we have been looking at the Grenoble as a place for the day of G.
Uriage is a spa town located at a height of 414m and close to the Grenoble, France.
The town was established during the Roman Empire. The Romans built baths to enjoy the spring water here.
Uriage thermal water contains sulfide and salt and has a molecular concentration similar to that of human blood serum, which is unique in the world and allowed to be administered directly in intra-muscular injections.
This small town has tourist mainly interested in the thermal bath activity. There also some recreation like Golf grounds in this place.
La Grand Hotel
We usually stay in this Hotel for our visits. The place can be very cold and with full snow. Since I have been visiting here for several times of the year, I amazed at the amount of contrast this place offer.
The left is the white snow-covered landscape during the winter. Compare this with the regular day’s landscape.
A closer look at the same landscape. When I am here, I do not remember the amount of time I had spent in staring just this one postcard-perfect landscape.
There is also a Casino for the Roulette fans. I have never tried, and hence no comments from me. At least, not yet! Will definitely give it a try once in future.
Even though there is not much activity in these place other than SPA, during one of the weekends I ventured to reach the Castle on top of the hill. It is closed for the public but just did the climb as a weekend activity. The castle was built around 15th century.
Since the access is closed to the public, I just returned from having a nice trekking towards the castle.
My theme for the April 2018 #AtoZChallenge is blogging about the places I have been to. Let me see if I can make it through all alphabets. You can find all my #AtoZChallenge posts here. Interested to know my next destination starting with letter V?
And the clue is, this place is the one famous for both Carnival & Black Death. Try commenting your guess, let’s see.
