Rakesh, the ex-police officer, moved away from the huge crowd in front of the Prison which was chanting praises for the ex-minister. But the minister was not happy. Who will be? Especially when you are going into prison for the murder you never did.
Not that the minister was a gem. It was just that he was not caught in any of the murders and corruptions he did so far. But karma is not something that goes on vacation. It worked really well through Rakesh.
Yes, Rakesh was the one who did the plans and fixed the minister in such a situation. You may ask, why did he do such murder. Well, what will you do when your family was killed? Even after you being a strict police officer, you could not act against the murders only because they are powerful politicians?
Won’t you try your best to take revenge? And that is exactly what Rakesh did and succeeded in it too.

Moving away from the crowd, Rakesh took an auto and reached his home. Today he will sleep peacefully. He said to himself – “Tomorrow I should meet my wife and daughter. They will be happy”
Next morning, he got up fresh and relaxed. Got his shower, dressed in his Elegant 2 Button Blazer. One of the most favorite of his wife. Came in front of the mirror, and adjusted his
He turned back to the voice “Don’t you even know to choose a matching tie?” and then smiled himself. It was the smile with disappointment. Because it was just his inner voice.
His wife was the one who selected his ties and shoes for any outing they made. Of course, she had no option to choose when he is on duty – Police. So, it is always the Kakhi and Brown shoes. But when it comes to going out to the Cinema or dinner, she made it a point that no one should recognize him to be someone from the police.
With the disappointment, he looked at the photo on the wall. His wife and young daughter were hugging him from both sides in the picture. A lovely family! No more.
“Shoba, I am coming to meet you. Have a lot to discuss.”
Rakesh was staring the picture for a while and wiped his tears with his forefinger that came without his permission. He could be a police officer, who have seen numerous murders in his experience. But that does not mean he does not have the
He swallowed a couple of bread sandwiches and locked the door of his house. Walked to the garage, and took his Royal Enfield.
“Is that a trademark for all police to use this Enfield B
She loved the ride on those Bullet hugging Rakesh with one hand from behind. She always thought about why they reached the destination so quick – even if it took more than an hour in that deadly traffic. Because, she loved every moment of the ride behind him, close to him, hugging him.
Rakesh knows it well too. Many times he used to slow purposely to skip the clear green signal and wait in the red. Who will not love to have a beautiful woman at the back of your bike, ha?
The Bullet started to leave his compound with a loud dhud dhud dhud sound. His Bullet traveled through those open streets to reach the college where his wife used to work.
The security at the gate immediately recognized him. Saluted him briskly, but with a surprised face. Surprised because he could not recollect seeing Rakesh in such a formal dress before.
Rakesh ignored the salute from him, another surprise for the security. In fact, he did not even move his eyes to security. All his attention was on the white building that was on the right side of the college campus. He parked his Bullet in the visitor parking area. Walked through the corridor towards the white building.
The white building is the one where they had the library, the favorite place of his wife. She was an avid book reader, and very fond of reading books. She used to always say – “Rakesh, my only wish is to die while reading these books.”
Even during some of the college holidays and weekends when Rakesh is out for his police duty, she used to come here with their daughter and spend hours.
His daughter obviously picked up the same interest from her mother and was happy to be around this library. In fact, it was on one such day they both were killed by pushing them from the fifth floor in this very same library. She died exactly as she wished.
Rakesh entered the building and took the stairs to the library, which was on the fifth floor. The librarian saw him and wished. He read her mind that was full of confusions and questions. But he had no time to answer her question that was popping in her mind about his attire. He walked through the maze of desks and reached the window.
Took the chair and felt the table in front of it with his right hand. It was exactly here where they met first.
He still remembered every detail of the day he first saw her at the college library; sitting in a corner with a pile of literature and Jane Austen novels. The table she chose was strategically placed beside a large window – not too close for the wind to ruffle up the pages but close enough for her to enjoy the petrichor.
Rakesh now looked out of the window. The window which swallowed his wife & daughter life. In front of him was the books, something favorite to his wife, more than him. He took one of the books for his wife. It was “Pride and Prejudice”.
With the book in his hand, he walked towards the window. No. The gateway to Heaven. The door to his family. He looked up at the sky, and then down on the ground. He saw his wife & daughter standing next to the Bullet and calling him with both their hands open.
“Wait, I am coming.” And he climbed through the window!
